Arpaio displeased with new movie about immigration
Web Producer: Laura Kittell
PHOENIX (AP) - A new movie has been released about illegal immigration and focuses partly on how the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office handles it.
But Sheriff Joe Arpaio isn't giving the film a thumbs up approval rating.
His office says the movie is "a very biased look" at the way MCSO enforces immigration laws in Arizona.
Phoenix TV station KTVK reports that Arpaio's office cooperated with filmmakers during production.
The movie entitled "2 Americans" was screened Wednesday night in Phoenix.
It focuses partly on Arpaio and partly on a 9-year-old girl whose parents were arrested during an immigration raid.
Producers say they gave each side equal time, but their goal was to show the impact the current laws have on families with members in the U.S. illegally.
