BISBEE - A 60-year-old National Park Service employee remains hospitalized in critical condition after an apparent assault in southeastern Arizona.

Park Service officials identified the employee Thursday as Karen Gonzales.

They say she's is a uniformed maintenance worker and longtime seasonal employee of the Park Service.

She was found unconscious Wednesday afternoon in a picnic area restroom at Chiricahua (cheer-ah-KOW'-ah) National Monument, apparently suffering from a head injury.

Her government-owned truck was later found in the border town of Douglas, about 40 miles away.i Authorities tracked the vehicle through Gonzales' cellphone, which was still inside.

Park Service officials says Gonzales is in critical but stable condition at a Tucson hospital.

No suspects have been arrested or identified in the case.
